The Modern Persevering Women
The life of a modern woman can be a battlefield. Trying moments in life, the challenges and battles often demand us to summon a fighting spirit. And when they become part of the journey, we learn to live & lead with grace and perseverance. These women deserve even more respect from us when they continuously resist competitive womanhood, and look to the women around them to shine on and lift up while evolving and moving forward to where they want to be.

Among the many amazing women we've worked with in 2022, we talked to three of them who inspire us with their strengths, values, and stories that we would like to share them with you.

What drives you in the pursuit of your goals?
Deni: One thing that drives me is having little checkpoints. I think that it is so important to be able to acknowledge your progress instead of always focusing on the end goal. Being able to celebrate the small victories, however ‘insignificant’ to others, keeps me sane and motivated.

Wishlyn: To be a capable and independent woman.

Vahbiz: My ambitions and dreams are the driving force that gives me the strength and courage to keep pursuing my goals.
What's your view of a modern woman today?
Deni: Personally, a modern woman is someone who is able to stand her ground in any space. She is also genuine and supports those around her. In our society, I find it extremely easy for people to get overwhelmed with all our different responsibilities and commitments. With this, I feel that sometimes I tend to feel lost and like I have no control. Therefore (even though it’s cliché), someone who truly inspires me to keep going during tough times would be my mom. She always tells me what matters is how I let situations affect me and how I choose to respond. While I may not always be in control of the outcomes, I can control how I respond. I feel like this advice always keeps me grounded.

Wishlyn: A modern woman possesses the mental fortitude to withstand life's challenges in today's world. Someone that is financially independent and a strong believer of self love.

Vahbiz: A modern woman believes in herself, aims for the sky and settles for nothing less. She constantly challenges herself to do the impossible and doesn't allow anything to restrict her. I am inspired by modern women changemakers who fight for their rights and raise their voices against injustice.
Have you ever challenged yourself to accomplish something? What helped you in overcoming the fear?
Deni: Honestly, modelling used to be very out of my comfort zone. In fact, when I was scouted, I was slightly apprehensive because I did not know if I would be able to perform well enough and if I would even book any jobs. One thing which really pushed me to overcome my fears was speaking to my friends and taking a chance on myself. I realised that if I did not pursue this interest, I would regret it one day. In this, I think that being aware of how short life is encourages me to do things out of my comfort zone.

Wishlyn: Yes, a perfect example would be me joining the Asia Model Festival competition held in Korea 2019. I represented Singapore and came in top10 amongst 75 models from 23 different countries. Having anxiety during such an event is no stranger to me. How I overcame it would be the strong desire to challenge myself to see where I stand amongst my peers in this industry. Also, I knew that I had to cherish this once in a lifetime opportunity that was presented to me. I have to thank god for this blessing.

Vahbiz: Figuring out how to begin my career as a model and entrepreneur was extremely challenging and required me to push myself out of my comfort zone. My biggest fear used to be experiencing failure; I was scared of failing and being rejected. I overcame this fear when I realized that failure and rejection are stepping stones towards success. I challenge myself every day to learn, grow and experience something new.
Your favourite product from The Moisturizers Co?
Deni: My favourite product from The Moisturizers Co would be the sunscreen which is suitable for sensitive skin. Personally, I have pretty sensitive skin so I always appreciate when a brand is paraben and alcobol free. I also love that The Moisturizers Co educates people on skincare and the benefits of different ingredients!

Wishlyn: My favorite product from Moisturizers Co would be the Lipid Renew Recovery Cream. As a model, I've to use makeup very often and I like that this cream encourages my skin to self repair and renew. My skin now glows with radiance and I've a younger / healthier-looking complexion! 😊

What do you want to say to the other modern, persevering women out there?
Deni
I would say to take a chance on yourself and to reach out to people around you when you’re struggling. Generally you’ll find that people who care about you will never turn their backs to you and will do whatever they can to help you. We need to learn to build a support system for each other. Finally, I would say that in whatever you do and aim to achieve, we need to treat others with kindness because you don't know what they may be going through.
