From Your Bedroom to the Bahamas

You don’t have to hop on a plane to experience spa-worthy treatment

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and not too late to get your festive face on while giving yourself a mental and physical reset from the tempo of the jolly season.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to wait for your next spa vacation to have a moment of respite. With a little effort, you can positively restore your body and mind, and enjoy glowing skin every single day.

Here are 5 easy ways to create your own little spa right from your bedroom:

1. Create a space solely for rejuvenation

Working late into the night is becoming increasingly common. Unfortunately, all this usually happens in your bedroom, which suggests it’s no longer a place for pure rest. To reintroduce rest and wellness into your bedroom, we suggest picking a corner of your room, ensuring it’s clean and tidy, and making it your “Relaxing Corner”. By adding a nice armchair or a chair with a cushy backing, a small table with a few magazines, or even a little footstool, you can really create your own little nook to rejuvenate.

Tip: Getting a small, plush rug for your special corner does wonders to add a cozy feel. The “carpeted” feel also makes you feel like you’re at a hotel.

2. Let there be (candle) light

When you step into a spa, the first thing you’ll notice is that their lights are never harsh or too white. Orange-y or sepia toned lighting provides a calm, soothing ambience that can instantly send signals to your brain to relax. To recreate that exact mood, consider getting a few candles with your favorite scents (lavender and jasmine are two popular scents) to turn your bedroom into an instant haven.

Tip: Instil all-year round zen with a bedside lamp with soft, warm lighting. This helps you to unwind the moment you step into your room.

3. Time for tea

We don’t think twice about spending a few dollars each time on a pot of tea whenever we head to a cafe for brunch. Yet, why is it we hardly brew ourselves a cup when we’re home? Save your pennies and invest them in quality tea bags or leaves instead. The Daily Tea recommends interesting flavors like chamomile and linden tea to help you destress. Personally, we love green tea with a dash of honey. Simple and effective!

Tip: Out of sight, out of mind. Instead of storing all your tea in your kitchen, grab a few sachets and leave them on your desk as a quick reminder to drink tea!

4. Indulge in a comprehensive skincare routine

Are you the sort to run through your skincare routine haphazardly at night? Take time to really give your tired looking skin a proper cleanse and moisturizing session.

First, dampen a face cloth with hot water, let it cool slightly before covering your face with it. Once your face is slightly damp and your pores are open, you can move on to exfoliating and cleansing. When that’s done, it’s time to moisturize!

We recommend getting a multi-mask pack according to your needs: are you looking to improve skin elasticity? Or do you have dry skin? Knowing just what your skin needs will grant you the perfection solutions for radiant skin in no time.

Tip: Our Multi-Moisturizing bundles are great for anyone looking to double their moisturizing efforts! Grab our Clear & Youthful Skin bundle for blemish-free skin with refined pores, or our Radiant & Youthful Skin bundle for supple, glowing skin.

5. Create a special playlist for relaxation

And we mean songs that relax you, not just blasting your favorite songs. Not sure where to start? Fire up Spotify and search relaxing music for a curated selection of instrumentals and soothing tunes, or download a relaxation app that has pre-installed tranquil sounds. Find some recommended ones here.

Tip: Classical music is proven to be relaxing for most people! If all fails, pop on some Beethoven or Bach.

While declarations of “I need a vacation!” aren’t going to stop anytime soon, it’s worth investing a bit of time in your everyday routine to really give yourself a mental and physical reset. Of course, don’t forget to get enough sleep so you can face each day with renewed zest and beauty!
