Ceramide

Ceramides are essential in retaining your skin’s moisture, building a natural barrier that locks in hydration for a supple complexion. If your skin lacks ceramides, you’ll start to see dry skin and wrinkles appear. Ceramide levels also dip considerably as one ages, so it’s important to use skincare that contains a sufficient amount of ceramides to ‘top up’ what your skin lacks.

Chamomile

Like Calendula, Chamomile is widely known for its skin soothing properties. However, it’s also an effective conditioning agent and skin rejuvenator that greatly helps dry skin.

If you experience uncomfortably tight, taut skin caused by dryness or are prone to flaky skin that shows up beneath your makeup, you’ll be glad to know that chamomilla extracts will help to restore supple skin in no time!

Citric Acid

Like its namesake, citric acid is an AHA derived from citrus fruits and commonly used to slough off dead skin cells to encourage cell regeneration. It’s also an antioxidant that combats early signs of aging such as small wrinkles and mild pigmentation, and helps to brighten the skin—perfect for those looking to keep yourself looking youthful and energetic!

Cucumber

Here’s a soothing skincare ingredient that everyone knows and loves. Cucumbers are rich in a horde of vitamins, minerals and nutrients with a pH value that is identical with our skin – providing multiple skin healing benefits regardless of skin type.

As cucumber contains polysaccharides, they create a hydrating barrier to trap moisture on your skin, while acting as an agent that calms sensitive skin. Vitamin K found in cucumber extracts further helps to repair dry and damaged skin, keeping it strong, healthy and hydrated.

CoEnzyme Q10

CoEnzyme Q10 functions as a strong antioxidant that neutralize harmful free radicals, protects the skin from damaging UV rays, harsh environmental exposure and daily stress. Also, Coenzyme Q10 has a small molecular size that penetrates easily into skin to purify and refresh skin's surface.

Glycolic Acid

Glycolic Acid is the smallest of all acids, yet is the one that produces superior results. Glycolic Acid helps to eliminate the build-up of oils and dead skin cells on your skin. In doing so, pores are unclogged to prevent future blemishes. Glycolic Acid also works to regenerate collagen, thicken epidermis and dermis, and even helps to even out skin tone.

Green Tea

A rich antioxidant that has anti-aging properties and could boost the immune response in skin cells to protect from external toxins. Furthermore, the EGCG found in green tea also has shown improvement in battling acne and oily skin in various studies. According to research, the rich amount of polyphenols in Green Tea, when applied to skin, help to reduce sebum secretion, which can lead to acne. Polyphenols further help to slow skin's aging process, maintain the elasticity and vitality of the skin, and improve its radiance.

Green Tea is generally suitable for all skin types especially combination, oily, blemish-prone skin, and skin that is dealing with pre-mature aging.

Hyaluronic Acid

Find it in:

Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture

You’ve probably heard about apple and other fruit essential oils being used in skincare products, but you may not be familiar with the use of Malus Domestica fruit cell culture extract. Malus Domestica fruit cell culture extract is a powerful, anti-aging skincare ingredient that comes from the rare Uttwiler Spätlauber – otherwise known as Swiss Apple. In many ways, it is an even more powerful ingredient than the essential oils that are so popular.

Malus Domestica fruit cell culture extract serves as skin conditioners - it leaves your skin softer, smoother and stronger than it was before. Application of products with these extracts helps to maintain healthy skin at any age, reducing the appearance of aged and damaged skin.

They are rich in antioxidants. Like skin conditioning, antioxidants are important for your skin. However, they become even more important as your skin goes through the aging process. Antioxidants fight free radicals, which are behind many common skincare issues such as fine lines and wrinkles. Eating and drinking antioxidants rich fruits and juices are beneficial to your skin but you get even better results when you use a topical product with antioxidant-rich ingredients, such as Malus Domestica fruit cell culture extract, in the formula.

Swiss Apple Stem Cell is suitable for dry, normal to combination skin types, and it is gentle on sensitive, irritated skin too.

Niacinamide

Also known as Vitamin B3, niacinamide is an effective ingredient with various benefits that range from pore minimizing qualities to the reduction of fine lines and dullness. Here are some of its many amazing features:

  • Minimizes pores, lines and wrinkles – Improves your skin’s lipid barrier and increases cell differentiation, producing more collagen and elastin in your skin so you have a youthful-looking complexion with refined pores.

  • Prevents moisture loss – When your skin’s epidermal lipid barrier is improved, it works better in retaining your skin’s moisture level and prevents Trans Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL). Skin then becomes well-hydrated and strong.

  • Prevents redness and blotchiness – Improves your skin’s structure, which leads to the reduction of redness (especially helpful for those with inflamed blemishes), blotchiness, as well as sensitivity caused by environmental factors.

  • Reduces hyperpigmentation – Suppresses melanin caused by frequent UV rays—so you have less freckles and age spots.

  • Rids dull and sallow skin – Reverses the signs of aging and tired skin by reducing the negative impact of oxidative stress.

Niacinamide has been widely researched as a beneficial ingredient for oily / acne-prone skin. It helps to regulate the amount of oil that your skin produces, keeps your complexion matte and reduces the appearance of clogged, enlarged pores.

Rosehip

Find it in:

Brightening Moisturizing Cream

Rich in Vitamin A, which is known to help fight against age spots and wrinkles, rosehip is great for anti-aging. It's also packed with molecules that are small enough to penetrate deep layers of the skin, improving moisture and collagen levels, while reducing wrinkles and fine lines.

Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil

Pronounced “ho-ho-bar”, jojoba seed oil is cold pressed from the seeds of the Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) plant. Interestingly, while it’s called an oil, the ingredient is actually a liquid plant wax that is commonly used in skincare—especially in moisturizers—as it penetrates skin easily to improve skin elasticity, and also reduces wrinkles, stretch marks, and lightens dark spots. As an emollient, jojoba also soothes skin and calms redness. Perfect for people who want to prep skin before makeup and not cover up with a lot of foundation.

Sodium PCA

Find it in:

Glow Renew Essence Toner

A strong hydrating agent that penetrates deep into the epidermis to restore elasticity, balance skin's acid mantle and replenish moisture. Squalane is an ingredient backed by studies on its powerful anti-aging properties that help skin to age gracefully.

Squalane

Squalane provides essential plant derived nutrients that encourage cell turnover and increase collagen production. This is vital for skin that is regularly exposed to chemical laden cleanser or pore clogging concealers that disrupt skin's ability to breathe and shed dead skin. Squalane also protects skin from damaging UV rays, pollution and further helps to retain skin moisture.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C helps to combat harmful free radicals to protect the skin from damaging UV rays and the appearance of future discolouration. Also, it's derivatives could penetrate easily into the skin to deliver multiple benefits of vitamin C which includes boosting skin's natural power to amplify collagen, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, and elimination of skin blotchiness.

For oily or normal skin, L-ascorbic acid is the most potent form of Vitamin C and can be the most beneficial, while for dry and sensitive skin, Ascorbyl Palmitate, a fat-soluble Vitamin C, is less irritating and more stable than pure Vitamin C (which means it is suitable for skin that's extremely sensitive). For acne-prone skin, there is research showing that Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, a water-soluble Vitamin C, can inhibit factors that cause breakouts while working to rid dark spots.

Vitamin E

This antioxidant helps to keep your skin from pollutants while helping to improve skin health and fade pigmentation as it’s essential in the processing of Vitamin A. The latter is included in many skincare products like retinoids and specifically targets dark spots. Without Vitamin E, your body is unable to absorb Vitamin A properly, making your retinoids ineffective!

Additionally, Vitamin E is a wonderful antioxidant with properties that neutralize harmful free radicals, protect the skin from pollution and damaging UV rays. Vitamin E further helps to enhance skin's natural healing process and prevents trans-epidermal water loss.

Vitamin E is usually suitable for all skin types considering that it's a naturally occurring substance in the body.

Wild Yam (Dioscorea villosa)

Wild yam is filled with steroid saponins—naturally occurring plant molecules that have a whole suite of antioxidant and beneficial properties for our skin. Diosgenin found in wild yam extracts are also great in improving the epidermal thickness of skin hence reducing the look of lines, wrinkles and sagging skin, reducing pigmentation, plus soothing irritated and sensitive skin. Skin will have more bounce and radiance.
